On Labor Day weekend, my girls planned a surprise getaway for my bachelorette! I really didn’t know what to expect. I’d been working so hard preparing for the wedding, I barely had time to tend to myself. All I knew, was that I was going to overdose on some good ole’ TLC! Though the location was supposed to be a surprise, a couple of the girls spilled the beans, but I just brushed it off ,and acted as if it fell on deaf ears. The funniest part is that they never even noticed that they’d spilled the beans! Lol. Anyway, it really didn’t matter if I knew or not, what mattered to me most was getting to spend some QT time with my best girlfriends.
The first day of the trip was low key. I’m really not a napper, so it was hard for me to sleep during the day. I decided to sit on the patio, and quietly take in all that was around me. When life gets so hectic, it’s easy to forget to stop and take a moment to just be in the moment. Since I’d been on overdrive, it was therapeutic for me to regroup, and get in touch with myself.
Later that day, a few of us went Kayaking, which turned out to be quite a fail, yet still fun. My friend Jaz, was my partner. We kept running into the trees along the path, and getting stuck. At one point, the instructor had just about had it with us, and hitched himself to our kayak to guide us through to the end. LOL! Though it was a challenge, it was a great way to practice communication, and learn how to work as a team.

On the second day, we went to Isla Verde beach, and jet skied whilst there. This was definitely one of the highlights of my trip. Crashing through those waves was the most invigorating feeling, ever! Everyone who rode with me asked to go back to shore, which was a real shocker to me since I’m usually the frightened one, and them the dare devils. I guess it was too much of a thriller for them. Afterwards, we trailed the beach, had a few photo opps, and broke out into dance sessions amongst ourselves. There’s nothing like letting your hair loose with those who know you best.
Dinner at Oceano!

Later that evening, we went to dinner at Oceano, a beautiful, modern restaurant in the heart of San Juan. Their authentic Puerto Rican cuisine was exquisite. We might as well have licked our plates the way we devoured our food. Dinner was supposed to be the precursor to the night, but I was BEAT! Clearly, I’m in my 30s, the energy I thought I would have to enjoy a night out in town, completely diminished.
We visited Old San Juan for the night of my bachelorette. I don’t think I’ve ever been more embarrassed. The girls hit me with all types of dares, that I dare not mention; they really forced me to put my big girl shoes on! It was a night filled with blackmail moments one after the other!
Dinner at Cafe Del Angel! AH-MA-ZING
The food in PR is SOO good! The last restaurant we visited called, ‘Cafe Del Angel’, was probably the best I had during my entire stay. I was bummed that some of the girls who had already gone home didn’t get a chance to experience it.
Happiness is everything!
I feel so blessed to be a part of a sisterhood as tight as mine. They pulled out all the stops to make sure I had the epic bachelorette, and that it certainly was! Now, back to wedding planning!
